The Perfect Scent for Summer

IMG_0338.jpeg

Am I the only one who loves to change their fragrances with the season? Well if you do, you know that finding the perfect scent for summer is the hardest. A perfect scent is one that isn’t too bright, but is fresh and elegant at the same time. The Eau De Parfum Bianca from TOCCA Fragrances [$68, found here] is elegant, fresh, and revitalizing at the same time. The La Dolce Vita – Bianca [$40, found here] is the perfect gift for anyone who loves fragrances (including yourself!).

What’s included in the set:

  • 1 x 20 mL Travel Fragrance Spray
  • 1 x 1 fl oz Body Scrub
  • 1 x 1 fl oz Hand Cream

IMG_9122.JPG

The 20 mL bottle of Bianca is perfect for touch-ups throughout the day. It is light, but lasts a long time. I also love how the cap has beautiful engravings on it. Also, the bottle is made of thick glass, making it very high quality and sturdy.

The 1 oz  tube body scrub, smelling just like the fragrance, is also great for traveling. Body scrubs are an essential of mine which is why I love this. The scrub isn’t too harsh, but it is strong enough to really remove my dead skin cells.

The 1 oz hand cream is the last item included in the set. I always have a hand cream by me because my hands get super dry. I love to throw this in my purse and use it throughout the day.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick and Brush Review

IMG_9677.JPG

Hourglass just released a new foundation stick and brush. I was super excited because I love many other products from Hourglass and I love stick foundations because they are super easy to take anywhere.

FullSizeRender-3.jpg

Their Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick [$46, available herecovers any kind of imperfections on the skin, while providing a natural finish. It has a very blendable, liquid-like texture, making it easy to apply. Also, the triangular tip reaches all points of the face.

FullSizeRender-4.jpg

The stick is actually more pigmented than I expected it to be, but the since the formula blends so well, a little bit goes a long way. A few dots on the cheeks, forehead, and chin are all it takes to get medium coverage. I love how you can build this foundation to be full coverage.

IMG_9683-1.JPG

Moving on to the second product, the Vanish Seamless Finish Brush [$46, available hereis the perfect tool to use with the foundation stick. It is the same size as the foundation stick, making it also great for traveling. It is dense, with a slight angle, making it perfect for blending any foundation into the corners of the face. It is super soft, and a great tool overall.

Bottom line: I am a fan of both! I love how versatile each of the products are. Also, I love how beautifully the foundation applies.

Monthly Favorites | June 2016

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling | My Kit Co. 0.8 My Flawless PowderGoody SlideProof Spiky Soft Touch Hair Elastics | Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener | Bhave Fresh Ends Repair & Protect

Wow! I can’t believe its almost July 4th! Also, Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian readers out there. Anyways, this month I have some lifestyle favorites in addition to beauty favorites. I have really been enjoying Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling. It is such a great book filled with advice, life experiences, and a touch of humor. My second lifestyle favorites is the Goody SlideProof Spiky Soft Touch Hair Elastics (phew! that was a long name) because they do not fall out! I have super thick hair an hair ties always fall out if I don’t use two or three. These hair ties however, will stay in all day.

I have also been loving the My Kit Co. 0.8 My Flawless Powder brush for applying loose powders all over my face (which is necessary, for my oily skin!)  and even blush. It is super, super, soft and picks up the perfect amount of product. Continuing with beauty, I have been loving the Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener from Jane Iredale. It is the perfect primer because it makes my skin feel smooth, hydrated, and look brighter. It smells amazing too! Finally, I have been loving the Bhave Fresh Ends Repair & Protect because it helps my damaged hair regain the shine and strength it has lost because heat damage.

That’s it guys! I hope you enjoy this post and try out some of these items. What are you enjoying this month? Let me know! I love hearing from you guys.

Get the Good Glow With Jane Iredale

FullSizeRender-4.jpg

The summer is all about glowing skin, which is why the Jane Iredale Summer 2016 Collection is an essential. The collection includes three shimmery bronzers and a new shade of their LipDrink in Flirt. The bronzers are meant to give you “the good glow” meaning a natural, sun kissed look without exposure to harmful rays. Subsequently, the new LipDrink in Flirt is a balm that is meant to hydrate and protect your lips while providing a hint of color.

1. Moonglow Golden Bronzer [$44 get it here

IMG_5062.jpeg

The Moonglow Golden Bronzer is a gold (hence the name) toned bronzer which is perfect for light/medium skin tones. All of the bronzers in this collection contain four colors which can be mixed together, or used separately, depending on your preference. Also, all of the bronzers can be used as eyeshadows.

Swatches of the Moonglow Golden Bronzer: (the first four are the colors in the pan, and the last is the colors mixed together)

IMG_0851.jpeg

As you can see, the bronzer is very pigmented and shimmery.  I love taking a tapered highlighting brush and using the two lighter shades in this pan as a highlighter. For bronzer, I mix all of the shades together.

2. Rose Dawn Bronzer [$44 get it here

FullSizeRender-2.jpg

The Rose Dawn Bronzer is not really a bronzer, but more of a blush. Nonetheless, it is still beautiful. It is pigmented and shimmery just like the other ones.

IMG_4191.jpeg

Because it looks like a blush, I use this bronzer as a blush and it works really well! It gives a flush of pink and a wonderful glow at the same time. This is best for light and medium skin tones. Although I have a light/medium complexion, I wish there was a rosy bronzer for darker skin tones.

3. Sunbeam Bronzer [$44 get it here

IMG_2555.jpeg

The Sunbeam Bronzer is a bronzer meant for darker skin tones! I am really happy that this collection keeps every single person in mind. This bronzer, is yet again very creamy and pigmented!

IMG_0603.jpeg

Although there wasn’t a blush like shade for darker skin tones, this bronzer is actually a dark pink color when you mix all of the colors together. This pan is actually the most versatile because the first two shades can be used as bronzers, the third shade can be used as a highlight, and the last shade and all of the shades combined can be used as a blush.

4. LipDrink Lip Balm in Flirt [$15 get it here

FullSizeRender-5.jpg

The LipDrink in Flirt is a lip balm wish SPF 15, protecting your lips form the sun while giving a sheer pinky/peachy tint. It is supposed to smell like lemon, so it smells very fresh and sharp (if that makes sense?) and it isn’t too creamy, which I love.

Swatch of the LipDrink in Flirt:

FullSizeRender-1.jpg

I love the pinky/peachy tint this gives! It really reminds me of pink lemonade, one of my favorite drinks in the summer. This is perfect for those no makeup-makeup days.

The verdict:

I think this line is more for light/medium skin tones and people who are looking for products that will leave a natural and glowing look. I do wish there were more options for darker skin tones and matte bronzers. Another thing is that you can only buy the bronzers in pans and you need to purchase the compact separately for $18, so together they are $62. However, they are very pigmented, bendable, and soft but not too soft.

No Makeup Makeup

Perricone MD has launched a makeup line that is skincare at the same time which is perfect for people who are just getting started with makeup or are going for an extremely natural look.

No Foundation Foundation [$60]:  As soon as I applied this, I unfortunately wasn’t a fan of it. It is very sheer, which I am not a fan of, but the main problem was that it is very sticky. It does not feel light, despite the minimal coverage that it gives. Because of this, I will not be using this again. However, I am a fan of the wonderful pump because it makes it easy to dispense the perfect amount of product and the fact that it has an SPF of 30.

No Concealer Concealer [$35]: The formula and applicator of this concealer are very similar to the Naked Skin Concealer by Urban Decay, which I am a huge fan of (it was mentioned in my monthly favorites, here.) It is easy to blend and a great shade for highlighting the under eye. It does have, to a lesser extent, the same stickiness as the foundation. I will be reaching for this concealer again in the future though. Continue reading

The Smart Way to Apply Makeup

FullSizeRender.jpg

So I have always stuck to my beauty blender for applying foundation, but I have recently started using the blendSMART Automated Makeup Brush System* ($69, get it here.) This brush turns on and spins in order to flawlessly blend in your makeup. The foundation brush head (pictured above) is not very dense, meaning it is great for a natural, everyday look. The bristles are extremely soft and you don’t need nearly as much product as you would with a beauty blender. IMG_7334.jpeg

The starter set comes with a foundation brush and a battery. The only thing that I do not like about this product is that the battery is not a very common one and may be harder to replace. In addition to the brush head that the starter set comes with, you can purchase two other brush heads individually ($26 each, get them here.) This brush is an extremely original concept and I must say, I am a huge fan of it.

Have you tried this brush? What do you think? Let me know in the comments below! I would love to know.

New From Boscia

IMG_4627.JPG

I have large pores so I always welcome a detoxifying mask to help clean and refine them. The new Charcoal Pore Pudding* by Boscia does exactly that. Made with kaolin clay and black and white charcoal, this mask penetrates all dirt from your pores leaving you with a refreshed, clean complexion.

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 5.30.58 PM.png

The interesting part about this is mask that the white and black charcoal are separated in the tub but are supposed to be mixed together to form a gray, opaque layer once applied. I am really enjoying this mask! I initially expected to be like any other mud mask (drying my skin out) but it really refreshes complexion.

Perfect Lips With Estee Lauder

IMG_2367

As you guys know, I am a huge fan of lipstick. The perfect lipstick can pull an entire look together. The Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy lipsticks* are every lipstick lover’s dream. They are pigmented, moisturizing, and last for a long time.

Screen Shot 2016-05-18 at 7.50.26 PM.png

They come in 31 different shades ($30 each, find them here) ranging from nudes to bold colors. The bullet is shaped to fit the curves of your lips, making them look sculpted. Finally, the lipsticks have a luxurious, metal casing.

IMG_0651.JPG

These are swatches of the pink/nude/brown everyday colors. With just one swipe, they are completely opaque and have a beautiful sheen. Impulsive is probably my favorite because it is the perfect color for spring and it is great for a variety of different looks.

IMG_0658.jpg

These are swatches of the bold colors which are great for a night out. Just like the everyday colors, the bold shades are extremely pigmented and moisturizing. Carnal is probably my favorite because it is the perfect blue-based red.
